Scotia Glenville Pipe Band |
|---|
| The Scotia Glenville Pipe Band's mission is to offer young people a quality educational, performance, and competitive experience through the pipe band idiom. Utilizing our unique musical idiom as a vehicle to promote the values of dedication, hard work and commitment through a team effort and to develop young people to become responsible, goal-oriented adults. Our goal is to become a first-rate competitive band for youth. The pipe band founded in 1991 as an enhancement to the Scotia-Glenville School District's scottish heritage, the Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band's aim is to teach young people ages 8-18 bagpipes and scottish drumming. Expanding membership to the Capital District, the band began competing in 1999. New students are provided exceptional instruction and leadership as they progress from practice chanter or drum pad onto pipes and drums. The instructors are top prize winners who themselves have competed across the United States, Canada, and Scotland as soloists and in pipe bands. The band participates competitions as well as community events to perform and promote the band, scottish arts, and to raise funds. Parental support is vital to the band. Assistance is needed in ensuring that players practice, that financial support is provided as well as: emotional support, transportation to practices and events, and assistance with the many things that are needed to keep a pipe band running.
