Conal Creedon |
|---|
| "The People's Republic of Cork: Center of the Universe" Conal Creedon is a comic writer, whose family has lived and traded in the heart of downtown Cork for generations. To this day, Conal continues to live and work on the street where he and his twelve siblings were raised. "The People's Republic of Cork" is a wry term of affection that the people of Cork have bestowed on their city. It refers to the belief, commonly held by many people from other parts of Ireland, that Corkonians perceive themselves to be silghtly above the rest -- a breed apart, if not God's chosen people. This sometimes manifests itself in an attitude that has been variously described as more aloof than arrogant, more complacent than confident, more self-satisfied than ambitious. Conal Creedons "The People's Republic of Cork" guarantees to be a humorous, enlightening and entertaining evening, where Credon will explore whether the city of Cork, is in fact, the center of the universe (or more to the point, whether Corkonians live in a universe all of their own!). You are invited to join Conal Creedon on a journey past the steps, steeples and steep hills of Cork, where historical face will blend seamlessly with Conal's comic storytelling - a journey that leads directly to the heart of the city.
